Exhibit Policies, Requests and Spaces

This policy addresses routine library exhibits of regular size with typical display items such as wall art, books, and other small art objects.

Exhibit Policies

  • All exhibits must be approved by the DAAP Library head librarian before installation.
  • All exhibits should relate to library services and/or collections in some manner.
  • Exhibits must fit within the physical limitations of the designated display cases and be installed using library-approved methods.
  • Installation of exhibits is the responsibility of the exhibitor and must adhere to the library’s exhibit guidelines.
  • The library will do its best to maintain proper security for loaned materials during an exhibit. There must be a clear understanding with the exhibit curator that the library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the materials.

What the Exhibitor Must Provide

  • Exhibit installation and dismantling team.
  • Art and objects to be displayed.
  • All exhibit signage (introductory signs, section headings, individual object labels, etc.).
  • Description of the exhibit to be used when announcing the exhibit.
  • Photographs of the installed exhibit to be used when announcing the exhibit.
  • Any promotion of the exhibit beyond what the library will provide (see below).

What the DAAP Library Will Provide

  • Staff to offer guidance during the installation and dismantling process.
  • Installation supplies to install the art objects and signage (tape, book stands, bookcases, pedestals).
  • Tools for use when installing the exhibit.
  • Announcement of the exhibit on the DAAP College’s events calendar, the library’s website, and
    through the library’s social media channels.

Requesting Exhibits in the DAAP Library

  • The potential exhibitor must submit a Request Form to the head librarian.
  • The completed form will include: title/theme, a brief description of the exhibit, including suggested materials to be displayed, (and dimensions, if possible) exhibitor name and contact information, preferred exhibit dates, and connection to the library and its services.

Dimensions: 111.5” height to ceiling 95.5” height to top of door, 142.75” length, 20.5" width

Modular Shelving: 4 modular shelving units fit inside the case and contain shelves that are 32" wide and 13.75" deep.  One shelf per unit is structually set but all other sheves are settable to different heights.
