MakerLabs at UC Libraries
What is a MakerLab?
A MakerLab is a creative, hands-on space within the library where students, faculty, and staff can experiment, design, and bring ideas to life. MakerLabs foster innovation, collaboration, and practical learning by providing access to technology and resources that support academic projects and personal creativity.
Why making in UC Libraries?
University libraries host MakerLabs to expand learning beyond books and research by connecting them to doing. These spaces empower users to explore, create, and solve problems through experiential, interdisciplinary activities. By offering access to maker technology and expertise, libraries help bridge the gap between theory and practice, support diverse learning styles, and provide gateways to larger University resources.
