How to Apply for a ZTC Grant

Online applications for courses taught in the 2027 calendar year will be available here starting March 6th, 2026. Keep reading for information on eligibility, joint applications, deadlines, and using materials from Archives and Rare Books.

  • ZTC grants are available to all UC faculty and adjunct faculty teaching a course at the University of Cincinnati Uptown campus during the 2027 calendar year.
  • Preference will be given to general education courses with the Breadth of Knowledge (BoK) designation and courses with enrollment over 150 students in 2026, but all are welcome to apply.
  • Courses currently utilizing a zero-cost textbook model will not be eligible for Adoption or Adaptation grants, but they may apply for a Maintenance grant.
  • Applicants must complete the required information session prior to the decision date to be eligible.

Yes! Joint applications (e.g., multiple sections of the same course) are welcome and inclusion of instructional designers as co-applicants is strongly encouraged.

The deadline for courses taught in the 2027 calendar year is Friday, May 8th, 2026. Note that you must attend the required information session (offered throughout the Spring) by May 15th, 2026, to be elegible.

Items from Archives and Rare Books that fall within the public domain may be digitized for classroom use under the Adaptation grant. Before submitting an application, projects of this kind must first have a consultation with the UC Library's Digital Initiatives Team to determine if digitization is feasible.

Information sessions for faculty who are interested in learning more about ZTC grants will be offered throughout the Spring semester. You can also reach out to Melissa Moreau with additional questions or to arrange a meeting to discuss the program.
