- Children and Minors
- Children under the age of 14 who are not registered UC students must be accompanied by an adult. Adults who bring children into the library are responsible for monitoring their activities and regulating their behavior. A UC ID or a valid photo ID may be required to verify age or student status. If a parent or guardian cannot be located, Campus Police will be contacted. UC Blue Ash College does not filter content from the Internet. Parents and other adult care-providers should be aware that allowing minors to have unsupervised access to electronic resources and the Internet could result in their access to information or images that parents may find inappropriate for their children. State and federal laws and university computer use regulations apply in the Libraries.

- Library Instruction
- Types of Library Instruction
- Course-Related Instruction
These sessions can cover a range of resources (general or subject-specific) or focus on research strategies and critical thinking concepts. - Blackboard Librarian
This service provides direct access to a librarian and curricular support for students. The Library Research area in a course can include helpful research tips and links to course-specific resources, research guides, and tutorials. - Orientation Tours
- UC Students, Faculty, and Staff: These orientation tours are designed to provide a general overview of the collections and services available through the UC Blue Ash (UCBA) Library. Generally, these tours last between 10-20 minutes and are scheduled in advance.
- Non-University Groups: The UCBA Library can provide general tours of the library to non-university groups on a limited basis. See the Non-University Groups Tour Policy.
- Course-Related Instruction
- Guidelines for Faculty
- Scheduling: Please submit library instruction requests, using the online form, at least two weeks in advance so we can do our best to accommodate the preferred date/time and have sufficient time to prepare. Note an alternate date/time in your request in case the first preference is not available.
- When to Schedule: Scheduling the library instruction in conjunction with the research assignment will provide context for the students and is a critical component for student motivation and learning.
- Location: With the exception of library tours, instruction must be held in a computer classroom or course classroom since the Library does not have instruction space. Course instructors are asked to schedule the computer classroom and communicate that location to the librarian.
- Bringing Classes to the Library: The UCBA Library welcomes all classes; however, if your class will require research support while in the Library, please schedule the class visit in advance with your library liaison to guarantee a librarian will be available for assistance.
- Faculty Involvement
- Course Instructor Presence: In order to provide the most effective library instruction, the course instructor must be present with their class. This provides structure for the class as well emphasizing the importance and value of the research process. The librarian will not proceed with library instruction if a course instructor is not present. If the course instructor is not able to be present, contact the librarian as soon as possible to reschedule the library instruction.
- Course Instructor / Librarian Consultation: To ensure that the library instruction meets the needs of the class, the course instructor should provide relevant course material such as the syllabus, course assignment and student topics to the librarian. The course instructor should also communicate their student learning outcomes to the librarian.
