- Do I need my student ID in order to check out a book?

A UC ID or a valid photo ID may be requested at any time to verify age, status, or affiliation. See the Library Polices web page for more information.

- My professor said our textbook is on reserve. Where do I find it?

Please ask at the Information Desk for reserve materials.

- Does the library have all the textbooks?
-
Unfortunately, the library does not have the budget to purchase the text for each course offered at the college. We only place material on library reserve when requested by the instructor. Please ask at the Information Desk to see if the material you need is on reserve. If not, you may wish to ask the instructor if he/she will do this.

- Where can I make copies? Is there a color copier on campus?

The library has two photocopiers available for your use. The charge is 10¢ per page. If you use your Bearcat Campus Card (your UC ID), the cost is 8¢ per page. You can deposit money on your campus card at any UC Bookstore, or online using a debit/credit card at http://www.uc.edu/ bearcatcard.
There is not a color copier on the UCBA campus at this time.

- Does the copier take Debit or Credit Card?
- Copiers accept change, $1 and $5 bills as well as Bearcat cards that have been pre-loaded with funds. See Bearcat Card FAQ's at http://www.uc.edu/bearcatcard/bearcat_faq.html.
- Can I type my paper in the library?

Yes. The library computers are equipped with MS Office 2010.

- What software is available on the library computers?

Visit http://www.ucblueash.edu/network_resources/software.html for a full list of available computer software. There is also departmental software that is available for student use.

- Can I save my file to the library computer?
- Files cannot be saved to library computers but you can save files to a flash/thumb/jump drive. The Library has 2 flash/thumb/jump drives available for use in the library.
- Does the library have a scanner?

We do not have a scanner in the library, however, a scanner is available in the Computer Concourse.

- Does the library have a fax I can use?

There is not a fax machine available for student use on campus.

- Does the library have supplies I can use (paper cutter, stapler, hole punch, pencil sharpener, scrap paper)?

Basic supplies, as listed above, are available on the work table next to the printer.

- Can I use this CD-ROM in the library?
-
If the CD-ROM can be run directly from the CD itself, you may be able to use it on the library computers. Some CDs require auxiliary programs that are not available on the library computers. Software cannot be installed on lab computers.

- Is there a place I can watch a video/DVD or listen to a CD/audiocassette?

Yes, we have two VCR/DVD stations available in the library. Up to six people may simultaneously view a video at each station. Headphones are also are available for checkout at the Information Desk

- Does the Library have wireless access?
-
Yes. The UCBA Library is a hotspot for wireless access. Once connected to the wireless network users will be able to access the full range of Library resources.
The wireless network provides network access for wireless devices in specific areas on the UCBA campus (see the diagrams posted at http://wireless.UCBA.uc.edu/maps.html).
Wireless printing is NOT available in the Library. Please be prepared to save and print materials from a public Library computer using CDs, flash/thumb/jump drives or memory sticks.

- Does the library have wireless printing?
- Wireless printing is currently available on the three (3) Library laptops that are available for checkout.
- Is there a lost and found?

Items are held temporarily at the main information desk. Lost flash drives are immediately turned over to the Computer Concourse Help Desk. Any items of high value such as wallets or backpacks are immediately picked up by UC Police/Security. See the Library Polices web page for more information on the Unattended Items policy.

- How do I cite this book/article/website in APA/MLA format?

If you need help formatting your papers or reference, the staff of the UCBA Writing and Study Skills Center is available to help students with citation formatting. See the Citing Sources guide for citation resources available in the library and how to get additional help.

- Can I search the Library's resources when I am not on the campus?
- To search the Library's databases while not on a UC campus, click on the "Off Campus Access" link in the Quicklinks section on the left side of the page. VPN is the preferred login method for UC. First time users must download the VPN software. Login using your 6+2 and Central Login password. You will then be able to search these resources and access the full-text information. If you don't have VPN software on your computer, use Library Off Campus Access (Proxy) to login with your with your UC or affiliate ID. You can also access the library via the UC Libraries' mobile site at m.libraries.uc.edu or by downloading and installing the UC Libraries app from iTunes or the Android Market.
- How can I get research help when the library is closed?

- Can I use the library if I'm not a UC student, staff or faculty member?

Visitors are able to browse and use library materials on site. Visitors can apply for a Community Borrower card in order to borrow materials. See the Library Polices web page for more information about Community Borrowers.

- What privileges do I have as a Community Borrower?

Community borrowers are able to check out up to 5-items for a 3-week loan period. Items are eligible for one renewal. On-site database access at public-access workstations is also available

- Can someone in the library proctor tests? Sign my form?

The Library does not proctor tests or sign documents for students.
