A Note from the Dean
|
|
It was quite a summer in Langsam Library! In 15 weeks the building was transformed by the installation of new carpeting on three floors, the addition of bamboo flooring in the lobby, widening of aisles in all stack areas, and removal of the old circulation desk (the new one should be completed by the end of October). The recarpeting project launched a flurry of activity that made it possible for us to relocate the microforms collection to the 5th floor where it now shares space with Current Periodicals. We were also able to expand the size of our Info Commons area and return the "new books" area to highly visible space near the entrance to the library. In these first weeks of the Fall Quarter, students have
already shown keen interest in the two new services made possible
by the reallocation of space in Langsam - the introduction
of the Student Technology Resources Center (STRC) and the
addition of a UCit Mac lab. We are confident that these improvements
will play an important role in fulfilling the commitment of
the faculty and staff of University Libraries to provide quality
library service and inviting facilities for the University
of Cincinnati community. Read more about these renovations
and improvements in "Langsam Library Receives a Facelift"
on page 5.
