Mascot Mania Hits University Libraries Melissa Cox Norris, Acting Public Information Officer, melissa.norris@uc.edu |

This fall, the famous Cincinnati Zoo will not be the only place to view wildlife in the city as Mascot Mania has invaded the University of Cincinnati and released Bearcats around campus. Modeled after Cincinnati's Big Pig Gig, Mascot Mania features 4-foot, 3-inch Bearcat statues decorated by university departments, student groups, and campus vendors. The decorated Bearcats were displayed during Homecoming and sold at a silent auction at the Presidential Ball, October 19, with proceeds to benefit scholarships. Not immune to Mascot Mania, University Libraries created BearCATALOG. Our intellectual Bearcat embodies the essence of the 21st century student and library. Reading such classics as The Scarlet Bearcat, The Lord of the Bearcats, and The Divine Secrets of the Bearcat Sisterhood, BearCATALOG located these titles on the University Libraries Web site at <www.libraries.uc.edu>. On the Web site, he accessed the online catalog where he found information on millions of books, journals, and more. Don't miss the tasty treat our BearCATALOG has caught--none other than a mouse!
University Librarian and Dean Victoria Montavon was successful in her bid for BearCATALOG. He will return home to University Libraries and travel to all 11 college and departmental libraries. Clikc here for more information on Mascot Mania at UC.
