Spotlight on Service: E-Reserves Dorothy Byers, Chair, E-Reserves Task Force, dorothy,byers@uc.edu |
| With electronic reserves (E-Reserves), implemented this fall by University Libraries, UC faculty and students can now access reserve materials online 24/7 from any computer with an Internet connection. ERes from Docutek, Inc. is used to manage E-Reserves. Staff members in each library have been trained to use the software and scan reserve materials for inclusion on the Web. Other file types such as Word files, Web links, and html files can also be included. E-Reserves can be accessed directly at <eres.uc.edu> or by clicking on the “Reserves” Quicklink on the University Libraries Web site at <www.libraries.uc.edu>. In addition, every Blackboard 6 course has an E-Reserves button that links directly to E-Reserves for that particular course. Faculty wishing to submit material for E-Reserves should contact library staff. Lead contacts at each library are listed at <engrlib.uc.edu/eres/contacts.html>. For more information, flyers on E-Reserves and copyright are available at library circulation desks. A comprehensive Web site on E-Reserves and copyright can be found at <www.engrlib.uc.edu/eres/>.
