| Hundreds of videos available free, 24/7 on a computer screen near you! All this is possible through OhioLINK’s Digital Video Collection available online at <http://dmc.ohiolink.edu/media/ffhLogin>. Part of OhioLINK’s Digital Media Collection, the Digital Video Collection contains over 850 videos from the “Films for the Humanities and Sciences.” The videos, available to students, faculty, and staff at OhioLINK institutions, can be viewed via streaming technology or downloaded to the desktop and temporarily saved for later viewing. Viewers may also create a link to a video through Blackboard and may even print any text records retrieved with a video. The technical requirements to access the Digital Video Collection are minimal, including a 56Kb/s modem and a viewer available free from RealNetwork <www.real.com/>. To locate a video via the site, viewers may browse by subject or title, as well as perform a keyword search. Titles are also available via the OhioLINK Central Catalog as well as from UC’s Library Catalog at <http://ucolk2.olk.uc.edu/screens/opacmenu.html>. Subject areas in the collection range from architecture to urban studies, genetics to math, and drama to pharmacology. Viewing times of the videos range greatly from 15-minute anatomy tapes to a two-hour production of Sophocles’ Anitgone. The Digital Video Collection continues to grow with more “Films
for the Humanities and Sciences” scheduled to be loaded. OhioLINK
is also in discussions with other film producers to add more videos
to this developing collection. Stay tuned for more videos at your desktop
from OhioLINK!
