| The Archives and Rare Books Department is the repository for University Libraries’ rare books collection, University Archives, the Urban Studies Collection, local government records, various manuscripts, non-circulating theses and dissertations, University publications, and the German-Americana Collection. The department is located on the 8th floor of Blegen Library, but researchers can make a virtual visit at <www.archives.uc.edu>. Recently, the site underwent a great deal of growth with increased access and descriptions of collections through detailed inventories and finding aids, and new sections containing images and University-related music and sheet music. The site also serves as an ever-growing portal to University history, development, and contemporary administration, including full-text Board of Trustees’ minutes and links to the reports of the Office of Institutional Research. The Web site also contains information about departmental staff, collection-use policies, frequently asked questions, genealogy record requests, and a highlight of what’s new. Additionally, there are several online exhibits, including a look at the history of the shape of the book, an architectural analysis of the Blegen Library building, and an offbeat look at UC basketball history. More exhibits on urban studies and University history are being added regularly. With the continous loading of finding aids, images, and documents, the Archives & Rare Books Department Web site has opened new resources for researchers on campus, in the community, and around the world. For more information about the Archives and Rare Books Department, please call (513) 556-1959 or e-mail <archives@ucmail.uc.edu>.
