In preparation for the new academic year, University Libraries undertook two major projects to improve the appearance and functionality of library spaces.
College of Applied Science (CAS) Library:
What a difference a summer can make. The CAS Library received a facelift with new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, and new entrance lighting – all designed to make the library more comfortable and welcoming for users.
Blegen Library Window Replacement:
Although the replacement of all 207 windows in Blegen Library was a challenge to students, faculty, and staff due to the noise and mess of construction, all were handsomely rewarded. With the new windows, Blegen now boasts better temperature control within the building, reduced noise from the outside, and clean windows to enhance outside views. The improvement is dramatic both from the inside and outside of the building. Inside, the off-white aluminum frames brighten the interior walls and give them a greater sense of height. Outside, the new windows restore this historic building to much of its former grandeur. |
