| Groundbreaking began on the first phase of the Teachers/Dyer building renovation in January 2007. Work has begun to transform the 1930’s building into a modern model of teaching and learning spaces. When the west wing of the Teachers/Dyer building opens in 2008, a new College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Library will be one of its main attractions. The CECH Library will be located next to the new main entry doors to the building, welcoming students and providing them with immediate access to a wealth of resources, study space, and library services. The new CECH Library will incorporate the existing Curriculum Resources Center (CRC), which is now located in Blegen Library, and it will broaden its focus to meet the needs of the college’s criminal justice and human services programs as well. The construction of the CECH Library, like the renovation of the entire Teachers/Dyer building, will take place in two phases. After the first phase of the project is completed, the new library will be accessible via the 400-level breezeway that will connect Teachers/Dyer to Blegen Library and the College of Law. The library’s main service desk will be located on this temporary entry level, but the majority of services, such as an Info Commons and production lab, will be located one floor below. When phase two of the project is completed, the library entrance will be adjacent to the new building entrance. |
