As originally reported in the volume 6, number 2 issue of Source, the renovation of UC’s Teachers/Dyer Building is providing the opportunity to move the Curriculum Resources Center (CRC) into the new space and to rename the library the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Library. With the renovation of the west wing of the building where the library will be located moving along quickly, plans are taking shape to move library staff and materials to the new CECH Library this summer. A few things about the new CECH Library:
- The new CECH Library will incorporate the existing CRC currently located in Blegen, and will broaden its focus to meet the needs of the college’s criminal justice and human services programs as well.
- The Curriculum Resources Center will be closed for approximately seven days while staff and materials are moved to the new space in Teachers/Dyer. The move dates have yet to be scheduled, but estimates are between the last week in July and second week in August. As soon as this information is available, it will be posted on the University Libraries’ Web site and on the CRC Web site.
- The entrance of the CECH Library will be on the west side of the 400 level Teachers/Dyer breezeway. This breezeway is commonly used as the pass-through to reach the Blegen Library and the College of Law from the north side of campus.
- Library users will enter the CECH Library on the top floor. This floor includes the service desk, book stacks, copiers, group study, areas for quiet study, and quick look-up computer stations.
- To access the bottom floor of the library, patrons will use an internal stairwell south of the main entrance (please see the staff on the entry level for ADA access to the bottom floor). The bottom floor includes book stacks, quick look-up computer stations, DVD and video viewing, staff workroom, information commons, restrooms, and the production lab.
