Art in the Libraries

"Slipped Disc," a metal sculpture by Mark Schlachter, is on display at the Robert A. Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP).
 
A local sculptor, commercial and industrial photographer, and former librarian, Mr. Schlachter and his wife, Rosemary, provided a $1 million gift to the University of Cincinnati Libraries in 2007 to name and endow the DAAP Library for his father, Karl, a noted architect and visual artist, and his uncle, Robert A. Deshon, a DAAP Professor Emeritus of Architecture. Both Karl Schlacther and Robert Deshon graduated from UC in 1939 with bachelor’s degrees in architecture.
