E-News @ Your Library - Alienware in the STRC |
|
Already, the Alienware computers are proving popular. Approximately 20-30 students used the editing suites Spring Quarter to create videos for class projects on such topics as “How to String a Violin,” and “The Mt. Adams Sculpture Festival.” Several classes visited the STRC or were assigned video projects, including technical writing, business, communication, and architecture. For more information about video-editing or the other services available in the STRC, or to make an appointment to use one of the new Alienware computers, visit their Web page or call (513) 556-1980. |

Aliens have returned to the STRC. This spring, the video-editing Voodoo computers housed in the Student Technology Resources Center (STRC) were replaced with Alienware computers. With 16 gigabytes of RAM and two terabytes of hard-drive space, the Alienware computers are very powerful. And with movable cooling vents and customizable colors, they look cool, too. The computers are equipped with Adobe Premiere Pro 4 and Encore 4 for creating and editing video and with Adobe Soundbooth 4 for sound editing. The purchase of the Alienware computers was funded with Information Technology and Instructional Equipment (ITIE) fees.
