In addition to books, the database includes other printed materials such as broadsides, Bibles, tract books, sermons, and ephemera, totaling 33 million fully searchable pages covering every subject of interest to the 18th century mind, from history, literature, and politics to geography, religion, philosophy, law, medicine, science, technology, art, and music. Eighteenth Century Collections Online is an extraordinary database for an extraordinary century - one of great social and political upheaval. The consequences of the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution (all occurring in the 18th Century) continue to reach into the present. Scholars of the 18th Century will be able to study the works in this database in ways that have been inconceivable heretofore. By combining the Eighteenth Century Collections Online with that of Early English Books Online (1475-1700) and Evans Early American Imprints, Series I (1639-1800), University Libraries’ online collections becomes the equal of any library in the world for books produced in England and its dependencies from the beginning of printing to the end of the 18th Century. Eighteenth Century Collections Online is available via the Library Catalog. |
