E-News @ Your Library: Scopus

Melissa Cox Norris, Director of Library Communications, melissa.norris@uc.edu

Scopus is a multidisciplinary navigational tool that contains index information, abstracts, and citation searching for science and social science scholarly literature.

Designed and developed in collaborations with researchers and librarians, Scopus offers more coverage of scientific, technical, medical, and social-science literature than any other database with over 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. It provides access to many full-text links, as well as to over 25 million abstracts going back to 1966, a full 10-year reference backfile, and daily updates.

Some of the special features of Scopus include:

  • sophisticated connections between authors and cited authors for tracking of specific research projects
  • records enhanced by indexing terms, author keywords, and links to other sources from references as well as abstracts
  • ability to make connections with citations and references across disciplines

With its broad coverage and multidisciplinary approach, Scopus is an ideal research tool for anyone working in the sciences, medicine, or social sciences.
