With five roommates providing many opportunities for distraction, Scott generally heads to Langsam Library most evenings for a quiet study space. Scott’s favorite spot is group study room 542 in the Periodicals and Microforms Department. For the past nine months he and his study buddy have used 542 to prepare for the LSAT exam. Room 542 is one of four group study rooms with connections to the Internet. These study rooms can be reserved by calling (513) 556-1414 or by signing up at the Periodicals and Microforms Service Desk. Study rooms are also available on the fifth and sixth east stacks areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Scott admits that while the large size of Langsam may seem intimidating to students, he has discovered the “human element” that shows how comfortable the library truly is. Librarians such as Les Vuylsteke who have helped him navigate the abundant print and online resources that are available. Whether studying alone or with a group, Scott suggests that there are a variety of spaces available in Langsam Library – so explore and you will find a space that is not too big, not too small, not too busy, not too noisy, but just right. |
