Henry R. Winkler, President of the University of Cincinnati from 1977-1984, presided over the dedication of the Central Library (now Langsam Library) in 1979. He continues to be a generous and steadfast friend of the University of Cincinnati Libraries. This past fall the Henry R. Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions held a party to celebrate Dr. Winkler’s 95th birthday.

This portrait, which now hangs in Langsam Library, was painted by Robert Kelsey, former colleague of Dr. Winkler’s during his time at Rutgers University. The setting is his office on the second floor of Old Queens in a suite he shared with the president.
