The Priscilla Neill Library Leadership Award

Initiated in 2005 through a gift from Priscilla Neill, former Associate Dean for Human Resources, this award acknowledges and rewards exceptional leadership that advances the mission of the University of Cincinnati Libraries. The honorees for 2008 were:

• Holly Prochaska, Head of Preservation Services and Interim Head of the Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library: The Most Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of her tireless and efficient work in improving library facilities. Specifically noted was her collaborative approach to planning for and moving the new CECH Library to its new location in Teachers College, while at the same time moving several instruction rooms and preparing new service and user spaces in Langsam Library. In addition, Holly was recognized for her work chairing the Preservation Task Force, charged with creating a long-term plan to address the preservation and conservation needs of the Libraries print collections.
• The Lost, Missing, Long Overdue (LMLO) Task Force (Jim Clasper, Jeff Crawford, Dan Gottlieb, Arlene Johnson, Jerry Newman, Elna Saxton, John Stork, and Tom White): The Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of their work in tackling the gargantuan task of cleaning up thousands of records in the Library Catalog. These records represented items that had gone missing, were lost, or were long overdue. The group also created a process to systematically handle this category of materials in the future.
• The Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library Faculty and Staff (John Borntrager, Mike Bramel, Stephanie Bricking, Rose Bruns, Carol Feustel, Doris Haag, Birsen Kaya, Charles Kishman, William Lindesmith, Stephen Marine, Angela Myatt, Meredith Orlowski, Mary Piper, Peter Poulos, Sharon Purtee, Leslie Schick, Diana Smith, Edith Starbuck, Cade Stevens, Jane Thompson, Dennis Tunningley, Gerry Wagner, and Steve Welker): The Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of their work in moving the library to its new location in the CARE/Crawley Building after four years of being scattered in five locations. The library never closed, maintaining existing service points as new ones were being opened.
