The University of Cincinnati Libraries have intensified efforts to raise funds for the Henry R. Winkler Center for the History of the Health Professions. This initiative is a priority of “Proudly Cincinnati: Tower of Strength, Rock of Truth - The Campaign for the University of Cincinnati.” Dean and University Librarian Victoria A. Montavon said, “Now that the Center bears the name of Henry R. Winkler, we feel an even greater sense of urgency to honor Dr. Winkler by completing the construction project that will allow us to house our historical collections on-site.” The final construction phase will create a 5,500 square-foot area in the Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library where the Winkler Center’s historical collections will be readily accessible to researchers and maintained in a secure and environmentally sound space. The cost to create this space is $300,000 with $110,000 already raised, much of it as a result of Dr. Winkler’s direct involvement. Completion of the Center is vital, as emphasized in Dr. Winkler’s own words, “The Center helps us remember Cincinnati’s important contributions to advances in medicine, nursing, and the pharmaceutical sciences. It deserves our utmost support.” After funding has been secured to complete construction, gifts made to the Winkler Center will be directed to endow an archivist and support an operating budget. The Winkler Center operates solely on gift and endowed funds. The Winkler Center’s Advisory Board serves as the Campaign Leadership Committee. Members are:
