The University of Cincinnati, Langsam Library, obtains materials from the United Nations in the following five categories:

Category I                    General information and reference
Category VIII               Transport and communications
Category IX                  Disarmament and atomic energy
Category XIII               Demography
Category XVII             International Statistics

Other areas are collected on a selective basis.  The UC Marx Law Library has a standing order for the UN Official Records on microfiche, including the mimeographed and limited series, beginning with 1981. The Law Library also has the Official Records of the Human Rights Committee from 1946-1975, 1981-to date. The microfiche is kept in the microforms collection at the Marx Law Library.

The United Nations collection is housed on 4 East of Langsam Library.  Other materials may also be found in the general collection and in the SW depository.

United Nations documents can be found by searching the online catalog for the individual publication. If you do not find the document you need, please ask for assistance at the Info Commons Desk or in the Government Documents office at Langsam Library.

Online Indexes

Access UN (Newsbank) – “The premier index to United Nations documents including Official Records, masthead documents, draft resolutions, meeting records, UN Sales Publications, and the UN Treaty Series citations. Also included is the full-text of several thousand UN documents.”

UNBISnet (Dag Hammarskjold Library) – Catalog of United Nations documents and publications from 1979 onward, with older documents added on a regular basis.  Also includes voting records and an index to speeches.

Official Documents System (UN) – The full text of official records, speeches, and background documents from 1993 forward are available.

United Nations System – Alphabetical index to the websites of the United Nations System of Organizations.

United Nations Treaty Collection  - Contains the texts of over 50,000 bilateral and multilateral treaties and subsequent treaty actions.
