The National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) preserves and distributes computerized crime and justice data from Federal agencies, state agencies, and investigator initiated research projects to users for secondary statistical analysis. Founded in 1978 as part of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), the NACJD is supported by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in the U.S. Department of Justice.

Abstracts of criminal justice publications, including federal, state, and local government reports, books, research reports, journal articles, and unpublished research, from the early 1970's to the present. Most documents published by NCJRS sponsoring agencies since 1995 are available in full text.   NCJRS is a federally funded resource that provides criminal justice and substance abuse information to support research, policy, and program development worldwide.   NCJRS is sponsored by the following U.S. government agencies: Dept. of Justice, Dept. of Homeland Security, and the Executive Office of the Presidency (Office of National Drug Control Policy).    The NCJRS database includes over 180,000 publications of which over 7,000 titles are full-text.   Earlier edition available in CD-ROM format (1998) and in print (Gov Docs   J 28.31/2:;J 28.31/2: J 28.31/2-2:997).   The NCJRS microfiche collection (Microfiche# 890) contains the full-text of publication from 1981 to 1996.
