- Curriculum Standards for Various States and Applications of Curriculum Standards by School Districts
- Below are two portal Web sites that provide links to the state department of education for each state. Searching state departments sites is one approach to finding curriculum standards that they have developed.

http://wdcrobcolp01.ed.gov/Programs/EROD/org_list.cfm?category_cd=SEA
- Below is a portal that provides links to the Websites of many school districts from across the United States. Visiting these Websites can possibly provide access to curriculum guides, many of which show applications of curriculum standards, produced locally or at least contact information so that these can be obtained.

- Another approach for locating curriculum standards developed by various states and school district applications involves using KCDL Online. KCDL Online is a great resource for locating curriculum standards and frameworks that may be available online for various states. It can also be used for finding curriculum guides used by various school districts that may show curriculum standards and how the districts are applying them to their curriculum.
KCDL is a library of thousands of curriculum guides, frameworks, courses of study, and curriculum standards. Through the online index KCDL Online, you can locate online full-text copies of newer curriculum guides (since 2000) as well as earlier guides located on microfiche and filed in the CRC.
To access KCDL Online:
- Go to the University Libraries homepage – http://www.libraries.uc.edu
- Click in the upper right of the center section on “A-Z List of Databases”
- Click on “K” in the alphabet list
- The first database will be KCDL Online. Click on “Connect”
- You are now at the KCDL Index. At this point you can type in a “Keyword” or preferably scroll down a ways to the “Primary Section” and choose a curriculum area, such as social science, by scrolling down in the “Primary Section” window until social science appears. Click on this term.
You may also combine the above curriculum area with a specific subject. Just scroll down in the “Subject” window until you find an appropriate subject, for example, United States History. Select this term by clicking on it.
- Next, by going to the window marked, “Educational Content” and holding down the mouse key, you will find that you have a choice of various items, depending on what you are looking for in your curriculum guide. If you are mainly interested in those documents that contain curriculum standards, choose the term, academic standards. Also, by holding down the Control Key, you can click in this window on more than one of these terms to use in your search.
You can click on the appropriate grade level(s) in the “Grade Level” window or possibly a state(s) in the “State” window as well. You can also select particular years by holding down the control key and clicking on your suggestions. HINT: by choosing at least 8 years, more variety will be found.
If you wish to find full-text guides only, click in the box labeled “Results with Full-Text Documents.” Most documents in the database since 2000 will be full-text.
After clicking on “Search,” you will get a list of documents that meet your criteria. If you did not limit to full-text only, the non full-text listings will provide abstracts and the number of the microfiche. Many of these microfiche are located in the CRC and can be viewed and/or printed out on the microfiche reader/printer.
- Searching the CRC Collection for Curriculum Standards and Standards-Related Materials
This approach involves searching for standards-related materials that may be located in the CRC collection or at other OhioLINK institutions. You begin with a search in UCLID (the UC Libraries online catalog)
- From a computer go to the Libraries Homepage
- Next, click on “Library Catalog”
- Click on the arrow in the “Location” area and from the pull down menu that appears select “Curriculum Resources Center.”
- Then click on the top window of the three Word Search windows (Since some books contain curriculum guide materials for various curriculum areas, selecting a “word” search will search the whole record in the catalog including contents notes that might list your specific area)
- You are now ready to enter your curriculum area for locating curriculum standards. To focus just on standards, type the phrase and standards after your curriculum area, e.g. mathematics and standards. For just Ohio standards, type mathematics and standards – Ohio in the keyword window. If you are just interested in materials related to standards in the curriculum in general and not necessarily linked to a particular curriculum subject, type curriculum and standards.
- For further searching, begin at the University Libraries Homepage and click on “OhioLINK,” then click on “OhioLINK Library Catalog,” then click on “Words” and search the words as described in “6” above.
