The University of Cincinnati ETD Center offers the following definition of ETDs:

"An electronic thesis or dissertation (ETD) is an electronic version of your thesis or dissertation. In general, it is the same product as a paper thesis or dissertation, simply in electronic form. Access to a body of well over 8,000 University of Cincinnati electronic dissertations and theses, this is the best link to the broadest collection of electronic UC dissertations. The time period covers mainly from 1955 to the present. To acquire the dissertations electronically, users request the full text from UMI (ProQuest) and are sent a link and a password to access the dissertation. Dissertations from 1997 forward are available in the OhioLINK ETD at ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations)

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center (OhioLINK) is a free online database of masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from graduate students in participating Ohio colleges and universities.

Includes Full Text (only UC dissertations are available in Full Text. For other dissertations abstracts and previews may be available).

With more than 2 million entries, PQD&T is the single, central, authoritative resource for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350- word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Titles available as native or image PDF formats include free twenty-four page previews.

ETD-related Instruction

The University Libraries Reference and Instructional Services Department provides instruction on the use of Adobe Acrobat to create ETDs. The workshops are available upon request. Contact Randall Roberts for more infromation and instruction requests.
