American Verse Project

The American Verse Project is a collaborative project between the University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative (HTI) and the University of Michigan Press. APIS: Advanced Papyrological Information System

APIS is a collections-based repository hosting information about and images of papyrological materials (e.g. papyri, ostraca, wood tablets, etc) located in collections around the world. It contains physical descriptions and bibliographic information about the papyri and other written materials, as well as digital images and English translations of many of these texts. BAHR Database

Created in 1962 by Edmond Frezouls, the Bulletin Analytique d'Histoire Romaine (BAHR) was first presented as a yearly serial of analysis of articles from the scientific press, classified by topic and related to the roman history and archaeology. Since 1992 the analysis were stopped in order to promote the choice of key words - nations, anthroponomy, theonomy, - geographic places, - literature sources, epigraphy, papyrology, - different topics and key words. For this last group, a thesaurus has been established. The annual paperwork publication continues, but since 1999, the entire data base is also available on the Web - more precisely the data collected in about a thousand French and foreign press magazines, most of them inventoried since 1990. Most of the inventory and analysis were made by four CNRS engineers, member of the UMR 7044 (Etude des Civilisations de l'Antiquite, CNRS/Marc Bloch University). Michel Matter, Doris Meyer, Marie-Jose Morant, Andre Pautler, together with different teachers and research workers and doctoral candidates of Marc Bloch University (Strasbourg), Haute Alsace University (Mulhouse), Pierre-Mendes-France (Grenoble), Paris I, Paris IV, and also the members of the Research Group on Roman History of the Laval University of Quebec.

Databases: By 2004 the Beazley Archive had more than twenty databases of different types of objects in different formats. To manage data more efficiently they were merged into one 'extensible' database system (XDB) between 2004 and 2005. Merging datasets also enabled the 'benefits' of one database to be transferred to another. For example, a database of inscriptions on Athenian vases was merged with the Pottery Database, and the latter was merged with Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum.

Compustat is a database of financial, statistical, and marketing information. It provides more than 300 annual and 100 quarterly Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and supplemental data items on more than 7500 publicly held companies. SPC offers several Compustat files that are available in both annual and quarterly formats. The industrial annual formats offer both historical and restated data. The industrial quarterly formats offer restated data as reported by the company. The restated data allows analysts to compare current and prior years' results on a comparable basis and determine financial trends and growth rates. For most companies, annual and quarterly data is available for a maximum of 20 years and 48 quarters (Compustat User's Guide p.1). Compustat files also contain information on aggregates, industry segments, banks, market prices, dividends, and earnings.

Diotima serves as an interdisciplinary resource for anyone interested in patterns of gender around the ancient Mediterranean and as a forum for collaboration among instructors who teach courses about women and gender in the ancient world. This site includes course materials, the beginnings of a systematic and searchable bibliography, and links to many on-line resources, including articles, book reviews, databases, and images. Ross Scaife and Suzanne Bonefas launched this project in early 1995; since that time it has been developed mainly by Scaife, but with help and contributions from many quarters.

Dolphin Embryo Digitized Slides

Dolphin Embryo Digitized Slides are scanned images of histological sections, captured using a digital camera connected to a microscope. The collection consists of many sections per single embryo. Each embryo is identified by a name, such as LACM 94674. Embryos were made available by the Los Angeles County Museum. A section number follows the name, e.g. LACM 94674-100 is section 100. The specimens are individuals of the Pantropical Spotted Dolphin (Stenella attenuata). The goal behind these sections is to allow researchers and others to be able to see each section individually to study histological embryology as well as use a group of images to see changes within tissues.

Energy Citations Database was developed and designed by the United States Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI). George Catlin: The Printed Works is a collection of over 600 images of lithographic, chromolithographic and engraved plates from Catlin's principal printed works. Lake Erie's Yesterdays (digital photos)

Lake Erie’s Yesterdays (digital photos) is a collection of historic photographs of northwestern Ohio, documenting the local history of the Erie Islands and Lake Erie's western basin. These black and white images were produced by Sandusky, Ohio, commerical photographer Ernst Niebergall between 1909 and 1915. From ice harvesting and railroads to early aviation and island leisure activities, the Niebergall photographs richly depict the everyday lives and activities of Lake Erie's southern shoreline residents. The photographs provide a record of communities in transition as old methods gave way to advances in industry and technology. The original photos are part of the Charles E. Frohman Collection at the Manuscripts Division of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center.

Landsat 7 Satellite Image Server

The LANDSAT 7 satellite was launched in April of 1999. This satellite orbits the earth and captures digital snapshots from space. OhioLINK has purchased all Ohio based data captured by Landsat 7 since the first data sets were available, and maintains a standing order for new data as it is captured. A new 'snapshot' of the state is captured every 16 days. A complete 'snapshot' of Ohio is represented by nine Landsat 7 scenes that each represent ground cover approximately 115 miles wide by 106 miles long. Within each scene, nine different 'layers' are captured. (These 'layers' are actually different bands of the electromagnetic spectrum). These are available via FTP for expert users. Additionally these are processed at OhioLINK to create a variety of meaningful products viewable on the web for other academic users and the public. OhioLINK has an ongoing 'subscription' for this data, and will present the data on this web site within 5 days after it is captured by the satellite.
