Borrowing & Returning
All University of Cincinnati students, faculty, and staff, as well as patrons in good standing from affiliated institutions may borrow materials from RWC Library with a valid photo ID.
Borrowers may also request items from other UC Libraries to be sent to RWC Library. These items arrive in 3-5 business days. Library materials may be returned to any UC Library, and materials from other UC libraries can be returned to RWC. For your convenience, a book drop is located to the right of the Library’s main entrance.
Reserves
Faculty may place items on Reserve in the library to give students access to selected class materials.
Reserve materials are located behind the Circulation Desk in the RWC Library. Check-out periods vary from 2 Hour In-Library Use Only to 3 Day loans. A valid photo I.D. is required to access these materials.
Your instructor should notify you if any of your class materials are on Reserve. Other materials, such as certain textbooks, may only be available through the UC Bookstore.

Requesting Library Materials
Requesting UC Materials
Patrons may request available materials from other University of Cincinnati libraries to be sent to the library of their choice for pick up. Locate the appropriate record for the book desired in the UC library catalog and choose the “Request” option. You will be prompted to enter your name, UCID number and PIN (see below). Fill out the requested information and choose the library where the book is to be delivered. You will be notified via e-mail when the book is available for pick up. You may also view Your Library Record to check on the status of your request. Please note: requests will be cancelled if the book requested is available in the library selected for pick up.
- Create a Library PIN
Viewing Your Library Record or using the Library Catalog Request option:
- your Full name
- your University ID number (M number or 16 digit number on the back of your UC badge)
- your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
If you haven't already created a library PIN, whatever you use the first time will become your PIN. PINs may consist of any combination of alpha-numeric characters. Please use at least 5 characters for your PIN.
To set your PIN the first time:
- leave the PIN field blank on the Your Library Record or Request login screen and click the "Submit" button;
- on the following screen, enter your chosen PIN twice to confirm the number.
For further assistance, please visit the RWC Library Circulation Desk or contact us at 745-5710.
Requesting OhioLINK Materials
When desired materials are not available from any University of Cincinnati library location, patrons may request available items from an OhioLINK library. Search for materials in the OhioLINK Library Catalog and request items using the “Request This Item” link in the record. You will be prompted for your name and UCID number during this process. Follow the directions for specifying a pick-up location. Materials from other OhioLINK libraries generally arrive within 3-5 business days. You will be notified via e-mail when the book is available for pick up. You may also view Your Library Record to check on the status of your request. Patrons may also visit other OhioLINK libraries and borrow materials directly.
