Borrowing & Returning

All University of Cincinnati students, faculty, and staff, as well as patrons in good standing from affiliated institutions may borrow materials from RWC Library with a valid photo ID. Most affiliated borrowers without an existing UC Library record will need to present additional documentation to verify their affiliated institution or status. Please contact the Library for more information:: 745-5710.

UC faculty, staff and students may also request items from other UC Libraries to be sent to RWC Library. These items arrive in 3-5 business days. Library materials may be returned to any UC Library, and materials from other UC libraries can be returned to RWC. For your convenience, a book drop is located to the right of the Library’s main entrance.

Requesting Library Materials

UC Materials

UC faculty, staff and students may request available materials from other University of Cincinnati libraries to be sent to the library of their choice for pick up.  Locate the appropriate record for the book desired in the UC library catalog and choose the “Request” option.  You will be prompted to enter your Central Login Username (6+2) and Password. This is the same Username and Password combination you use for Blackboard, OneStop and UCFlex. Complete the requested information and choose the library where the book is to be delivered.  You will be notified via e-mail when the book is available for pick up.  You may also view Your Library Record to check on the status of your request. Please note: requests will be cancelled if the book requested is available in the library selected for pick up.

OhioLINK Materials

When desired materials are not available from any University of Cincinnati library location, patrons may request available items from an OhioLINK library.  Search for materials in the OhioLINK Library Catalog and request items using the “Request This Item” link in the record.  You will be prompted to enter your Central Login Username (6+2) and Password. This is the same Username and Password combination you use for Blackboard, OneStop and UCFlex. Complete the requested information and choose the library where the book is to be delivered. Materials from other OhioLINK libraries generally arrive within 3-5 business days.  You will be notified via e-mail when the book is available for pick up.  You may also view Your Library Record to check on the status of your request. Patrons may also visit other OhioLINK libraries and borrow materials directly with their UC i.d.

Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service which obtains materials that are unavailable for request through the University of Cincinnati libraries or OhioLINK.  You can request books and articles, monitor the progress of your requests and update your profile through an ILLiad account. For more information and to submit a request though ILLiad, please visit the UC Libraries ILLiad site at http://illiad.uc.edu/index.html.

Research Help @ RWC

The Raymond Walters College Library offers research assistance in the Library, over the phone and via email.

For in-depth research assistance, students can schedule a Research Consultation appointment. During one-on-one Research Consultations, librarians are able to guide you through the research process without interruption to locate your resources, provide instruction on use of resources and show you how to obtain resources through other UC Libraries, OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan.  The librarian does not perform the research or help with the mechanics of writing your paper. Writing assistance, including help with citations, is available in the RWC Writing Center in Muntz 112I at 745-5733.

Research Consultations are in-person and each session is scheduled for 30 minutes. To schedule a consultation, please contact us:

In person:     Ask for a Reference Librarian at either RWC Library Information Desks

Email:           rwclibrary@ucrwcu.rwc.uc.edu  [Type Research Consultation in the subject line]

Phone:          745-5710 [Ask for a reference librarian]

If you have a less in-depth research question, and need immediate help when we are unavailable, you can ask a librarian on the KnowItNow 24/7 online chat service.

Library Pins (UC Affiliates Only)

UC affiliates, such as SWON community borrowers, can also use the view Your Library Record function to renew items or check the status of their library account. When you access this function, you will be prompted for the following information:

If you haven't already created a library PIN, whatever you use the first time will become your PIN. PINs may consist of any combination of alpha-numeric characters. Please use at least 5 characters for your PIN.

To set your PIN the first time:

For further assistance, please visit the RWC Library Circulation Desk or contact us at 745-5710.
