Know It Now Academic Chat Ref Service to Continue

KnowItNow Academic, the online chat reference service, is moving from a pilot project to a permanent service, thanks to a commitment by librarians from 12 OhioLINK libraries to staff the service. The pilot launched in January 2008 and has been well-received by both librarians and users. The service hours for KnowItNow Academic will be expanding soon to 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Fridays until 5:00 p.m. Outside of these hours patrons are directed to the regular KnowItNow queues and public librarians and After-Dark librarians (independent librarians coordinated by the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System) answer the calls. KnowItNow Academic is staffed by librarians from the following libraries: Ashland University, Cleveland Health Sciences, Cuyahoga Community College, Lorain County Community College, Marietta College, Mt. Union College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.
