Instruction Options
Course Related Instruction
RWC librarians offer library instruction sessions for RWC students at all levels. These sessions can cover a range of resources (general or subject-specific) or focus on research strategies and critical thinking concepts.
All sessions are scheduled at the request of the course instructor and can be tailored to meet the needs of your classes, curriculum, or assignments.
Request a Library Instruction Session
To schedule a library instruction session for your class, submit a request using the online Library Instruction Form or contact your library liaison.
Guidelines
- Submit your library instruction request at least two weeks in advance so that we can do our best to accomodate your preferred date. Please have an alternate date/time in mind in case your preferred date is not available.
- Schedule the library instruction for a time after students have been given the assignment. This will provide context for students and is a critical component for student motivation and learning.
- In order to provide the most effective library instruction, it is important for the course instructor to be present during the class.
Class Research Guides
RWC Librarians are available to collaborate and create online class research guides. These guides are great starting points for students as they begin the research process. Contact your library liaison for more information.

Librarian Co-Instructor in Blackboard
RWC Librarians can create a Library Research button in your course menu and post course-specific resources, research guides, and helpful research tips. Your library liaison can provide instructions on how to add a co-instructor.
This service is not meant to take the place of course related instruction. It is only available* for classes with an in-class library instruction session.
*Subject to liaison availability in 2009-2010 with services expanding in Fall 2010.
Orientation Tours
UC Students, Faculty, and Staff
These are designed to provide a general overview of the collections and services available through the RWC Library. Generally, these tours last between 10-20 minutes and are scheduled in advance. They are not meant to take the place of course related instruction.
Scheduling a Tour
For more information or to schedule a tour, contact Lauren Wahman, Instruction Librarian at 513-936-1545.
Research Consultations
For in-depth research assistance, faculty can schedule a Research Consultation appointment. During one-on-one Research Consultations, librarians are able to assist you with your research without interruption to locate your resources, provide instruction on use of resources and show you how to obtain resources through other UC Libraries, OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan.
Research Consultations are in-person and each session is scheduled for 30 minutes. To schedule a consultation, please contact your Library Liaison.
If you have a less in-depth research question, and need immediate help when we are unavailable, you can ask a librarian on the KnowItNow 24/7 online chat service.
Library Research Assignments
Librarians are available to collaborate in the development of or review of any library research assignment. Contact your library liaison for more information.
Faculty Resources
Blackboard
Library resources can be integrated into your Blackboard course or included in one folder. Enhance your course by adding links to the library catalog, databases, articles, and videos. For more information, see the UC Libraries guide on Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard.
Workshops
Department
RWC librarians are available to teach workshops for any RWC department. Workshops are customizable and can include demonstrations or training on subject specific resources. Contact your library liaison for more information.
Faculty Development
The Library, in conjunction with the RWC Faculty Development Committee and Learning & Teaching Center, offers a series of pedagogy workshops each fall, winter, and spring quarter. For the current list of workshops, see the Workshops page.
