Active network jacks in T Stacks area are F0022, F0034, F0046 and F0066. Active network jacks in QA Stacks area are F0008 and F0176 in A-Z Stacks
They also provide access to databases via the web. Additional lookup stations are located in the reference area past the east bookstacks A-Z and on the mezzanine or upper stacks level. These stations print to the system printer in the Reference area. Instructions are provided online at the point-of-use.
Consult the library staff if you have any questions or email James Clasper Engineering Reference Librarian.
These are standalone stations which have CD-ROM library resources that can

The Engineering Information Commons is a joint
venture between the Office of College Computing and the Engineering Library.
It is located at the north end of Baldwin 8th floor, and is a 24-hour card
access area featuring an open computer work area and two computer classrooms,
860B and 860D, plus a consultant area. The open area was designed to offer
engineering students a comfortable work area with a great westward view over the Quadrangle
to the distant hills.
It has windows on the inner wall so that Library circulation staff can also
enjoy the view. Consultants from the Office of College Computing and the Engineering
Library are available to answer library and computing questions, offering
one-stop help for engineering students. The open area of the Commons has 16
wireless PC workstations. Twelve stations have Microsoft Office, Visual Studio,
and web access. Four stations on the table furthest from the entrance access
library information resources only; they do not have Microsoft Office or Visual
Studio. All workstations are on the library domain and do not access P: drive
accounts.
They print to the system printer at the northwest corner of the rooat the northwest corner of the room.

Print reference indexes and abstracts are shelved in the upper stacks area (north end) of the Engineering Library.
Most of the indexes are
available electronically. Check the Databases Online list to determine what titles are available.
Current periodicals are located in the Quiet Reading room.
Journals held by U.C. libraries either in paper or electronic versions may be found using the
UC Library Catalog.
Current journal titles in the UC Library Catalog have check-in records that show which
issues have been received by the library.
Unbound journals which have been received in the Engineering Library are
shelved alphabetically by title in the current periodicals area.
The most recent year of bound volumes is also kept with the unbound
issues.
Bound journals from 1985 to the present are shelved by call number on the Mezzanine floor or the upper stack level of the Engineering Library. You can find the call number by entering the title of the journal into the UC Library Catalog. Items which are shelved in the Journal Stacks can be identified in the UC Library Catalog by the Location ENGR Journals. Bound periodicals older than 1985 are in the SouthWest Depository (SWORD) and need to be requested.
If you have a question about anything in the library you should ask here.
Reservesfrom the UC Library Catalog main menu.
You are then given the option to select
RESERVES:COURSE NAME or INSTRUCTOR
If you enter the professor name ENGINEERING you will bring up a directory
of items that are on reserve permanently or are not on reserve for a
particular course.
In the directory you will also find SOLUTION MANUALS and SAMPLE PHD EXAMS.
If you retrieve by COURSE you can enter either the course name or the course number.
Once you have retrieved a reserve list you can find out if the item is AVAILABLE. If the item is checked out the display indicates when it is due back in.
UC PhD theses are all available online. Print copies have been moved to SWORD.
Engineering Masters 1995-2001 are shelved in the upper stacks (north end) of the
Engineering Library. Masters theses after 2001 are avaialble online through the
OhioLINK Electronic Theses and Dissertations database.
Earlier theses are in SWORD and can be requested via
the UC Library Catalog. Online theses after 2001 are also linked from the catalog record in
UC Library Catalog.
Engineering Library System PrintersThe public printer in the reference area serves all the five UC Library Catalog stations and the two CDROM stations in the Engineering Library.
The workstations in the Engineering Information Commons print to a printer located there.
