As Engineering Reference Librarian, I am responsible for reference, bibliographic, and instructional functions in the Engineering Library.
I answer reference questions and assist patrons in locating books, articles, conference papers, technical reports, standards, and patents by using the paper and electronic indexes available in the Engineering Library or elsewhere. If resources are not available locally, I can assist in locating the items through a document delivery supplier or through the World Wide Web.
I am available to provide classroom and individual bibliographic instruction as required by faculty in meeting instructional and research requirements. I train students and library staff in the use of engineering reference materials, the UC Library Catalog, and electronic information resources.
In order to meet these requirements, I have prepared a number of bibliographic and instructional materials in engineering. Most of these items are now available on the Engineering Library Homepage.
Since 1995 I have been selecting monographic materials for the collection in the engineering disciplines of mechanical, industrial, nuclear, aerospace, engineering mechanics, chemical, biomedical engineering, civil, environmental, and materials science engineering. I also select reference materials for the Engineering Library in all areas of engineering.
I have been an engineering librarian for over twenty-eight years. I received my MA degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin--Madison in 1975. I also have a MA degree in History. My undergraduate degree is in Education.
At the University of Cincinnati, I have worked as a library faculty member in the Engineering Library for over eighteen years.
