WORK EXPERIENCE – Information Management
1975 - present Head, College of Engineering Library at University of Cincinnati. 1993 - present Head, Mathematics Library. The Engineering Library serves 3,000 students and 140 research and teaching faculty. The Mathematics Library serves 50 math faculty and 20 computer science faculty. Responsible for all activities in the libraries including collection development, reference services, budgeting, planning for programs, facilities and space, document delivery, and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level.1993 - 1995 Manager, Contract Services at General Electric (GE)
Operated GE Technical Information Center.
1988 - 1993 Division Head, Branch Libraries.
Supervised heads of four science and technology branch libraries from 1988 to 1991. Supervised all branch library heads (8) from 1991 to 1993. Responsible for all matters in branch libraries except for collection development. Represented division at Management Group and participated in policy and planning for University Libraries.WORK EXPERIENCE - Teaching
1997 Co-taught University of Kentucky course LIS 624 entitled “Information in Science and Technology.”
1996 - Adjunct Professor of Industrial Engineering, University of Cincinnati. 1996 - Developed web-based course on engineering information. Use web for engineering class presentations and assignments. 1988 - present Began program to reach all engineering students through lectures in department seminars at the graduate and senior levels. Implemented freshmen orientation through use of WWW and Netscape. 1979 - 1988 Taught two-credit in-depth course for engineering graduate students on engineering information sources and access. 1978 - 1979 Part-time faculty, School of Library Science, University of Kentucky. Taught Bibliography of Science. 1977 - 1981 Adjunct Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering, University of Cincinnati. Team-taught graduate course in Management Information Systems.HONORS, AWARDS AND GRANTS
1996 Received faculty development award to develop a web-based course.
1996 Merit award for 95/96, University of Cincinnati.
1995 Received Information Technology Grant of $5,131 to develop web instruction
1995 American Society for Quality Control (ASQC) $15,000 award with Ali Houshmand in MINE for developing curriculum and collections in the area of quality control.
1995 Received endowment gift of $50,000 from the Schlemmer family.
1994 - 1995 Sabbatical award to investigate development of electronic reserves.
