Who is the provider of the image?
Museums and art organizations will provide the most reliable images as well as some commercial sites such as Dictionary of Art and Bridgeman Online (go to Image Resources for more examples). Be careful about searches that take you to other sources; images may be copyright protected or manipulated.
Image Enhancement/Manipulation
Be aware that images can be enhanced/manipulated by imaging software such as Photoshop. Resolution will have a great impact on the clarity and quality of the image, especially if you choose to expand the dimensions of the image.Examples of good digital images:
