Scanning Procedures for the
Epson Flatbed Scanner
Place image to be scanned face down on flatbed
Click on Start
Enter University ID Number
Click Programs > Photoshop CS
In Photoshop click on File and then Import, choose Epson Expression 1640
Click PREVIEW
Under Document Type enter Reflective
Under Image Type enter 24-bit or 8 bit gray
Are you scanning this for print or for a presentation, web, or email?
For printing use resolution

For presentations, web, or email in the Target Size drop down select Screen 768 x 1024
Do not change the Scale
Click and drag mouse to draw a marquee around image
Click SCAN
Close the scanning software to save the image
To Save:
From FILE Menu >select SAVE AS
Select file format:
The most used file formats are:
JPEG: used for photographs; use when an image is to be posted on the web or in an email.
GIF: used for text, images with sharp lines, and images with large areas of solid color.
TIFF: used for archival images or images that will be printed. TIFF files can be quite large.
Select location where image is to be saved:
A: Floppy Drive
D: Zip Drive
DAAP_Student_Space

If you temporarily save things to the Desktop, Remember to DELETE them after transferring information to DAAP Space or CD
