Research Projects and Institutions
- The Human Genome Project
This website documents the international effort to analyze, study, and map the genetic code of the human genome. This website features archives of the important articles, abstracts and reports concerning the development of the Humane Genome Project as well as well as guides and information on using the HGP databases to study genetic disorders, proteins, chromosomes, etc. Also included are learning resources for teachers and students include webcasts, image libraries, audio and video casts. - National Human Genome Research Institute
Since completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003, the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has supported the application of genome research to the understanding of genetic disorders and health, and to promote the study of the ethical, legal and social implications of genetics research. NHGRI also supports the training of health care professionals in genetics and acts as a clearing house for genetics information to the public. - Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is a private, not-for-profit research and education institution for the advancement of molecular biology and genetics. - Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the DOE's largest science and energy labortatory, was established in 1943 to support the Manhattan Project. Now ORNL supports research in clean energy, nuclear technology and security, material science and engineering, and computational science and engineering.
