Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

Database containing nearly 90,000 material safety data sheets (MSDS) from the Sigma-Aldrich family of companies. These documents clearly define each product giving its composition, identifying any hazardous properties, outlining first-aid treatment in case of accidental body contact and even pointing out special fire fighting procedures that might be needed. In addition, there are MSDS suggestions for responding to an accidental release of the compound, for everyday product handling and storage, as well as for personal protection against exposure to the product.

  • Online MSDS Search
Nearly 90,000 material data safety sheets (MSDS) from the Sigma-Aldrich family of companies are now available online to Register and Log-in users.
  • Safety Links: Material Safety Data Sheets Material Safety Data Sheets - List of Links
  • MSDS Search
Mission is the electronic connection of manufacturers, distributors, customers, government agencies, transporters, and emergency responders in a single, international, data base with all MSDSs available in text format at no cost to users. Contains a list of MSDS databases and a dictionary of MSDS terms and abbreviations.
  • Interactive Learning Paradigms Incorporated - Material Safety Data Sheets
Provides Internet Resources for MSDS: general sites, government and nonprofit sites, chemical manufacturers and suppliers, pesticides, and miscellaneous sites.

Science of Synthesis

A truly authoritative online resource, Science of Synthesis offers comprehensive and in-depth coverage of synthetic organic chemistry. This work is designed to be the first point of reference for chemists searching for reliable synthetic methods. Science of Synthesis focuses on the most effective and reliable methods for functional group transformations, and imparts essential reviews as well as detailed experimental procedures. Under the guidance of an international Editorial Board composed of distinguished chemists with unparalleled experience, over 1000 authors are contributing to the 48 volumes of Science of Synthesis. The methods in Science of Synthesis are complemented by additional material contained within the unique electronic backfile, containing every volume published in the Houben-Weyl series 1909-2003. The backfile includes a further 146,000 experimental procedures that cover synthetic knowledge stretching back to the late 1800s.

Web of Science (Science Citation Index)

The Web of Science is a science database of bibliographic information indexed so that you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address.  Because the information stored about each article includes the article's cited reference list (often called its bibliography), you can also search the databases for articles that cite a known author or work.  It indexes more than 5,700 major journals across 164 scientific disciplines.

Cited Reference Searching lets you use a given work as if it were a subject term to identify more recent articles on the same topic.  For example, you can find all works that reference articles published by A. Williamson in 1995 in the Journal of Neurophysiology (J Neurophysiol).  This type of searching often locates relevant articles that cannot be retrieved through traditional subject-author searching.  Coverage is from 1965 to the present.
