April 2006 Newsletter

New Book List for books received in March 2006.

Chemical Abstracts notice! The 2006 version of SciFinder Scholar is available and the old version will be going away. To update your version, contact John.Tebo@uc.edu . Today’s workshop covered spectral data for substances, which are available through the Location feature: Locate Substances, then Record Detail (click on microscope), then Experimental Properties.

March 30, 2006 - The Electrochemical Society announced its ECS Digital Library (ECS DL). Users can now search across both peer-reviewed ECS journals, Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES) and the rapid-publication Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters, as well as Meeting Abstracts. Visit http://ecsdl.org/ to access the ECS Digital Library.

For a new web search engine that competes with Google Scholar, try Windows Live Academic, now in beta http://academic.live.com . They currently index content related to computer science, physics, electrical engineering, and related subject areas. You can search for peer reviewed journal articles contained in journal publisher portals and on the web in locations like citeseer. They work with libraries to provide access to subscription content.

The new SAE Handbook is available only on CD-Rom! You can find it in the Engineering Library on CD-Rom Station #2 in the Reference Area.
