1. To find books:
- In the library catalog use a keyword search or subject search . Use the search tips to refine your search.
- Hint: email the library catalog record to yourself for printing or editing. It has all the information you need for citing it in your paper. (Mark the desired records, click "Save Marked Records" and then View Saved Records. Brief Display has the information you need for citing the reference. Full Display includes the Call Number and Subject Headings.)
- You may also try collections of online books:
Safari, CRCnetBASE , Referex, Knovel, or netLibrary.
2. To find reference material:

. Select Computer Engineering and Computer Science or Electrical

- Review the titles under the heading HANDBOOKS and ENCYCLOPEDIAS. Use the links or call numbers to find the books in the Reference
collection. Access Science is the online version of the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. Other options include

Engineering, Computer Science & Mathematics subject cluster. Then select electrical/computer databases.
4. Compiling your assignment.
- Use your own words in writing your essay. DO NOT cut and paste information from the abstracts or
articles. Improper citing of quoted or paraphrased material constitutes
plagiarism. Put reference numbers in brackets [ ] indicating the source for your information. Exact wording from a source must have quotemarks around it as well as a reference to the source.
- In the numbered list of references at the end of your paper, use the
IEEE format. Translate references from the various sources into this one format.
- To cite a web site, provide the person or organization responsible
for the page, the title of the web page, the date if any, the location (URL
beginning with http://), and [the date accessed in brackets]. Use
the same style as for the other references in formatting author names, etc.
