REQUEST AN ITEM THROUGH THE UC LIBRARY CATALOG
When viewing records after searching the UC Library Catalog, the option of requesting an item appears as a navigation button on the top of the search screen. Request an item allows you to request that an item be taken from any library stacks and brought to a particular circulation desk. Use this option with care:
- It will take at least 3-5 working days to have an item retrieved and delivered to any circulation desk.
- Journals, reserve items and other non-circulating items are NOT available through the request an item function.
- Libraries will not retrieve books from their own stacks for pickup at their own circulation desk.
- Make sure you select an appropriate pickup location! Click on the arrow (see below) to view your pickup location options.
- If an item is UNAVAILABLE, use OhioLINK to request the item; NOT UC request an item. OhioLINK will be faster.
- If an item is AVAILABLE at UC Libraries, someone else who brings the item to the Circulation Desk can check it out even though you have requested it.
LOGGING-IN TO YOUR LIBRARY ACCOUNT
All UC faculty, staff and students must use their Central Login Service username and password to log in to their library account. Other patrons must use the “Affiliates Login” and enter their Last Name, Identification Number and their Library PIN to access their account.
If you are already logged-in to your library account, you can place multiple item requests without having to log-in each time.
