This site provides access to resources that support the Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology students of the College of Applied Science.
Note: If you are accessing library resources from off-campus, you need to log in for Off Campus Access. Most of the resources on the library's Web site are restricted to authorized UC users only.
Use UCLID (UC’s Library Catalog) to locate books, periodicals, videos, and other materials owned by UC, and the OhioLINK catalog for items owned by other Ohio college and university libraries.
From the catalog menu, select KEYWORD and initiate your search using your topic terms (phrase, company, personal name, chemical). KEYWORD searches for words across the title, series title, organization, association, content notes, publisher, and subject.
For a more focused search, select SUBJECT and initiate your search using a Library of Congress subject term (subject, place name or personal name). Relevant examples of subject headings are:
Use the LIMIT/SORT button to limit your results to "CAS Library" or "Electronic Resources" or other options. Use the REQUEST button to order materials listed as available at other UC libraries.
If you don’t find the items you want in UCLID, search the OhioLINK Catalog, a library network of Ohio college and university catalogs. Click the OhioLINK button to enter the database, search and request materials.
Reference resources in the Library are useful for selecting topics, quick descriptions, and general information. These include general and specific encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, almanacs, etc., that are frequently used. Most reference resources may only be used in the Library, but others are available online
Listed below are some reference resources in Electrical and Computer Engineering:
Botto, Francis. Encyclopedia of Wireless Telecommunications.
CAS Reference TK5103.2 .B68 2002
This encyclopedia for students and professionals provides a quick reference
for unfamiliar concepts. It covers wireless technologies as well as
their applications, including: Architectures, local communication technologies,
and standards and protocols.
The computer engineering handbook. CAS

Comprehensive handbook that reviews "the computer engineering field's achievements,
outstanding issues and future directions."
The electrical engineering handbook. CAS
Permanent Reserve TK145 .E354 1997
Compilation of physical, chemical, material, and mathematical data, encompassing
the entire field of electrical engineering.
Derfler, Frank J. How networks work. CAS Reference TK5105.5 .D468 2003
This guide is heavily illustrated to explain the "basics" of networks.
Lenk, John D. McGraw-Hill circuit encyclopedia and troubleshooting
guide. CAS Reference TK7867 .L463 1993 v.1-4
Complete circuit designs are included in these four volumes, with details
on how each circuit works and guidelines for testing and troubleshooting,
along with source information. Each volume is an expansion of the previous
one, and will increase understanding circuits and how they fit into electronic
equipment and systems.
Muller, Nathan J. IP: A to Z.
CAS Reference TK5105.585 .M84 2003
This quick reference book works alphabetically, as a dictionary, but the 100
in-depth, illustrated entries are "explanations, not definitions."
Reference Data for Engineers: Radio, Electronics,
Computer, & Communications. CAS Reference
TK6552 .F43. 1995
The broad range of topics in this reference tool are written by professionals
in the various engineering fields. A few of the 50 included topics
are: "Units, constants, and conversion factors," "Properties of Materials,"
"Fundamentals of networks," "Lasers," "Logic design," and "Mathematical Equations
and Tables."
Note: Many electronic books can also be found in the UC Library Catalog.
CRCNetBase Online access to full-text technical handbooks and reference books in all areas of science. Information includes specialized data, figures, and equations critical to Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Polymers.
Knovel Database of online technical handbooks, includes searching for specialized technical data in all fields.
Wiley encyclopedia of electrical and electronics engineering.
(Print and online) CAS Reference TK9 .E53 1999
This comprehensive reference work is the ideal starting point for
research projects, addressing basic information and important topics of interest
to engineers, including: education; historical background of fields in electrical
and electronics engineering; patents; technology and society; and computer
and software engineering.
PERIODICALS (Journals, Magazines, Newspapers) can be used to keep up with the latest developments in a field and gain important first-hand details on research.
Useful periodical titles can be found by searching the UC Library Catalog with the selected SUBJECTS or KEYWORDS, then using LIMIT/SORT to choose PERIODICALS/SERIALS (from the OTHER MATERIAL TYPES drop down menu).
UC Libraries Full-Text Journal Finder
Search by journal title or ISBN to locate electronic copies of magazines and journals in UC-subscribed resources, including the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center.
Selected list of Electrical and Computer Engineering periodicals:
Indexes and databases assist the user in finding ARTICLES WITHIN PERIODICALS. There are different types of indexes/databases that include articles from many different kinds of periodicals and publications. Choose your database first, then search by subject or keyword.
RefWorks Service for creating a personal web-based database of bibliographic citations. Licensed for use by UC students and staff. Results may be imported from citations found in periodical databases.
Listed below are recommended indexes and databases for Electrical and Computer Engineering:
Computer and Applied Sciences Complete
Ei Compendex A comprehensive interdisciplinary engineering database, the electronic equivalent of the print Engineering Index. Compendex covers the entire spectrum of engineering, in depth, with abstracts from over 2,600 international journals, conference papers and proceedings, and technical reports.
