This site provides access to resources that support research in the Graphics Communications class, held at the College of Applied Science.
Note: If you are accessing library resources from off-campus, you need to log in for Off Campus Access. Most of the resources on the library's Web site are restricted to authorized UC users only.
Citing Sources
Use UCLID (UC Library Catalog) to locate books, periodicals, videos, and other materials owned by UC, and the OhioLINK catalog for items owned by other Ohio college and university libraries.
To search across words in the title, series title, organization, association, content notes, publisher, and subject, start with the KEYWORD search option. Use the LIMIT/SORT button to limit your results to a particular library, online resources, or other option. Use the REQUEST button to order items from another UC library (allow 3-5 days).

If you don’t find the items you want in the UC Library Catalog, search OhioLINK, a library network of Ohio college and university catalogs. Use the OhioLINK CENTRAL button to enter the database, search and request materials (allow 5-7 days for delivery).

Reference resources in the Library are useful for selecting research topics, finding brief descriptions, and locating citations to related in-depth resources. These include general and subject-specific encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, almanacs, etc. Most print reference resources may only be used in the Library, but many are available to access online.

Magazines and Journals can be used to keep up with the latest developments in a field, provide historical perspective and provide important information for research.
If you find a citation to a journal or magazine article in a database, follow these steps to find an electronic or paper copy of the article. Electronic copies of many journals and magazines are available through the Full-Text Finder.
Multimedia Resources for Posters
Art of the Poster 1880-1918 A few hundred high quality images of posters from 1880-1918. These images are in the public domain.
Posters American Style (Smithsonian) This collection of posters, gathered from both private and public collections, ranges from early to modern examples, emphasizing the importance of graphic design, powerful slogans, and the diversity of the American audience. Subjects include political movements, concerts, sporting events, and more.
Research databases help you find articles located in magazines and journals (periodicals). General databases cover a broad range of subjects and types of documents, and Specialized databases cover articles in specific subject areas or in specific types of publications.
If the full-text of an article is not available through the database, note the citation and follow these instructions for locating articles.
