This site provides tools and information resources supporting research projects in CHEM-315: Biochemistry of Physiologically Active Compounds, held at the UC College of Applied Science.

RefWorks

RefWorks is a tool for maintaining a personal web-based database of bibliographic citations. You will need to register and create an account in order to use it. You can manually enter citations and add annotations, or import citations from databases. Citations can be formatted in any of the major citation styles.

Reference Resources

Reference resources are helpful for selecting research topics, finding brief descriptions, discovering related words and phrases that relate to a topic, and locating citations to related in-depth resources. These include general and subject-specific encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, databooks, etc. Many reference resources are available online, however some are only available for use in the library.

The Lloyd Library, located in downtown Cincinnati, is a very useful resource for research in the areas of pharmacy and medicinal plants. Lloyd Library research materials are searchable in the UC Library Catalog, but can only be used at the library and cannot be sent to other locations.

Locating Articles

Once you have a citation for an article (title and author of the article, volume and year of the journal, and journal title), following these steps to locate the electronic or print article at UC, or to place an order through interlibrary loan.
