Cincinnati’s Republicans included favorite son William Howard Taft.  Elected President of the United States the previous November, Taft was only six months into his presidency when the Cincinnati festival was held.  The Republican Blaine Club honored him that summer, and the Los Angeles Record published a cartoon of the rotund president after the festivities on July 6, noting that Taft also held membership as a Turner.
