Service Note: Internet Service Interruptions Sept. 2-4
To meet the university’s needs for increased Internet bandwidth, UCIT will perform an upgrade to the Cincinnati Education Research Fiber-loop (CERF) ring during Labor Day weekend. The CERF ring is the backbone providing Internet and Internet2 connectivity for UC, Xavier, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The upgrade will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 2 and is expected to be complete by 1:00 a.m. Sunday, September 4. Users should expect intermittent service interruption to the Internet during this window, however there is a possibility for intermittent Internet outages during the entire maintenance period.
Want to Know the Latest in Library News?
Read Source, the UC Libraries newsletter for faculty, students, staff, and friends.
This volume celebrates the 10th anniversary of our newsletter. To mark this important milestone, the cover has been redesigned to bring more attention to the cover image. And what a perfect image to highlight this issue than that of our grand, new sculpture found in Langsam Library – Triceracopter.
Notice Anything Different about the Site?
The UC Libraries website has been updated to incorporate the new UC header with links to other UC sites including “About UC,” “Admissions,” and “Health.”
In addition, we have added a powerful new search tool, Summon, to the website. From a single search box located prominently on the Articles & More tab on the homepage, Summon provides easy and fast discovery of relevant information from the UC Libraries collections on any topic. It is the place to start research in journal and newspaper articles, books, government documents, maps, music recordings, videos, digital collections, and more.
Go Mobile with UC Libraries
The Libraries website is now mobile.
Access the UC Libraries site on your mobile device and search the Library Catalog, access Your Library Record, check the hours and location of a library, get research help, and more.
The UC Libraries mobile site is available online at m.libraries.uc.edu via a mobile device.
Display Issues on Libraries Site on Friday, Feb 4
Please Note that on Friday, Feb 4, at 7am, we will be performing technical maintenance on the UC Libraries website that will require us to reload the entire site. While the site is loading, there will be some display issues. The content will be available, but the header, QuickLINKS, tabs, and main navigation will not be visible. It is anticipated that the update will take 1-2 hours; however, as the site loads, the display will improve. The display issue affects the main site as well as College and Department sites, with the exception of the Health Sciences Library.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
