UCit@Langsam Closing Friday at 5pm
Due to a water shutdown in Langsam Library scheduled for Saturday, August 11, UCit@Langsam will close at 5pm on Friday, August 10 and reopen at 8pm on Saturday, August 11.
Public Library Awarded a LSTA Grant to Create a Joint Conservation Lab with UC Libraries

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County was awarded a $81,012 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the State Library of Ohio to establish a joint Conservation Lab with the University of Cincinnati Libraries for the preservation and protection of rare and heavily used materials.
Summer 2011 Records Quarterly Now Available

The Summer 2011 edition of Records Quarterly, the newsletter of University of Cincinnati Records Management, is now available on the records management website at http://www.libraries.uc.edu/libraries/arb/records_management/recordsquarterly.html. This issue features articles about managing databases as records, making electronic documents searchable and protected information. Also included is information about the recent Ohio budget bill’s impact on public records laws.
Records Quarterly is distributed electronically via the Records Management website. Subscribers to the Records Management Listserv will receive notification of new issues automatically. You can sign up for the listserv by going to the subscription page, or by sending an email to Janice.Schulz@uc.edu. Please include your name and email address and use “listserv sign-up” in the subject line.
RWC Library Presentations on Slideshare
You can now access RWC Library Faculty Development presentations via Slideshare at www.slideshare.net/rwclibrary. Slideshare is an online community for sharing presentations, documents and pdfs. The latest Faculty Development Workshop presentation, What the RWC Library Can Do For You, conducted by Heather Maloney and Michelle McKinney, is available for viewing. All future workshop Powerpoint presentations will be posted via Slideshare so be sure to follow us to stay up-to-date on library resources.

UC student is winner in Knovel University Challenge
Aravind Ranganathan poses with his prize, an iPod nano
Aravind Ranganathan, a PhD student in Computer Science at the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), recently won an iPod nano by participating in the Knovel University Challenge.
The Challenge was a nationwide contest for engineering students, and required them to locate answers to technical questions using collections in the Knovel online technical resource. Knovel is a subscription product paid for by UC Libraries. Aravind won in the “Contest Within a Contest” category.

While not busy with his PhD studies, Aravind enjoys working as a Graduate Assistant in the Engineering Library. Congratulations!
OhioLINK Notice Update
UPDATE – all systems are working now.
OhioLINK reports: “Unfortunately we are experiencing a SAN network failure that is preventing access to multiple OhioLINK services including the Electronic Journal Center, some OSearch databases, the Digital Media Center and other services. Systems engineers are working to resolve the problem and we hope to resume service as soon as possible. We apologize for the interruption in service at this very busy time of the year.”
