<p>The fall &#8220;Life of the Mind&#8221; lecture series will kick off Tuesday, September 18 from 3:30-5pm in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center. &#8220;Life of the Mind&#8221; features interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty around a one-word theme followed by audience Q&amp;A and a reception with light refreshments. <span id="more-17444"></span></p>
<p>Each quarter, there are two &#8220;Life of the Mind&#8221; sessions with three &#8220;thought provocateurs&#8221; contributing to each session. The fall &#8220;Life of the Mind&#8221; theme is &#8220;Security.&#8221;</p>
<p>At the September 18 event, three distinguished faculty members will address the theme from unique and diverse perspectives:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Pamela Heaton</strong>, Associate Professor of Pharmacy, James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, “Prescription Medications: Safe, Too Safe, or Not Safe Enough?”</li>
<li><strong>Kathleen Ballman</strong>, Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing, College of Nursing, “The 3 C’s of Security: Confidence, Competence and Caring”</li>
<li><strong>Robin Engel</strong>, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, College of      Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, “Enhancing Security through Crime Prevention: The Power of Repeats”</li>
</ul>
<p>The second session in the series on “Security” will be held Tuesday, October 30 from 3:30-5pm and will feature:</p>

<li>Richard Harknett, Associate Professor of Political Science, McMicken College of Arts and Sciences</li>
<li>Henry Nasrallah, Professor of Psychiatry &amp; Neuroscience, College of Medicine</li>

<p>“Life of the Mind” is free and open to the public and attracts a broad audience including UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as people from the community.
