Myers Alumni Center. At the event, UC Libraries honored 321 faculty members and their 481 creative and scholarly works published in the year 2012. Participating faculty members represented every UC college plus the Division of Professional Practice, and the Libraries.

The submitted publications ranged in medium as well as content. There were articles, books, chapters, edited journals, musical scores, artwork, poetry, works of fiction, CDs, DVDs, photography and drone aircraft. There were publications that enlighten and inform, some that inspire and motivate, and others that entertain. While some presented answers to life’s probing questions, others examined the past and explored the future. The publications spanned four languages: English, Spanish, German, and French.

At the event, three UC faculty discussed their published works as part of the program:

Kelly Cohen, associate professor of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics in the College of Engineering and Applied Science – Cohen shared insights into his work on SIERRA (Surveillance for Intelligent Emergency Response Robotic Aircraft) – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for enhancement of Forest Fire-Fighting. http://www.uc.edu/profiles/profile.asp?id=16092.Kristin Kalsem, professor of law, College of Law – Kalsem discussed her book In Contempt: Nineteenth-Century Women, Law, and Literature. http://www.law.uc.edu/faculty-staff/faculty/kristin-kalsem.Mary Sue Morrow, professor of musicology, College-Conservatory of Music – Morrow discussed her edited volume The Symphonic Repertoire: The Eighteenth-Century Symphony. Volume 1.

Most of the published works from Authors, Editors and Composers are now on public display in Langsam Library’s fourth and fifth floor lobbies.

“Authors, Editors & Composers” is organized by the University of Cincinnati Libraries and sponsored by Donors to the Libraries Annual Fund. Contributions from this group assist the Libraries in many ways, including providing support for exhibits that draw attention to library collections.

ETD UPDATE – 1/29/13

ETD Search and Display is back!

From OhioLINK:

“Search and Display

We are pleased to report that the ETD data integrity scan passed all vulnerability checks, and all previously published ETD data is back online along with search and display functionality. We would like to thank James Russell of OhioLINK and the OH-Tech development team as well as the information security staff for working diligently to get this service back as soon as possible. If you notice any unusual service behavior, please report it through the usual channels.

Submission and Approval

OhioLINK staff, OH-Tech, and selected members of the ETD Task Force continue to work on testing and review of the submission and approval features. We expect to open up the service to general staff user testing sometime early next week.

OH-Tech is working on the capture and load of submissions into the submission and approval application that were in process at the time of the server incident. We hope to minimize the necessity for resubmission of as much content as possible for the sake of students and ETD administrators.

We apologize for the disruption in service, and thank you for your patience.”

——————————————————————-

ETDs may also be accessed in the interim via the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (University of Cincinnati) ETD Database (PQDT- UC) — http://search.proquest.com/pqdtlocal1006619/advanced?accountid=2909
