UC Libraries Introduce Summon, A Powerful New Search Tool
March 31, 2011 – The Libraries have added a powerful new search tool, Summon, to our website. From a single search box located prominently on the Articles & More tab on the Libraries homepage, Summon provides easy and fast discovery of library resources on any topic.
It is the place to start research in journal and newspaper articles, books, government documents, maps, music recordings, videos, digital collections, and more. To date, Summon content comes from 6,800+ publishers and 94,000+ journal and periodical titles, and 3+ million library catalog records. There are over 230 million items indexed in UC Libraries’ Summon index —and we are constantly adding new content.
Whether you need to find an empirical research article, a psychological case study, or even literature criticism, Summon takes the guesswork out of choosing library resources and quickly delivers content from many disciplines. Use Summon to search for works by your favorite author, begin a literature search, or to find an article.
Summon is still growing and developing as features continue to improve and content is added regularly. User feedback is welcomed and can be sent via an online form at http://www.libraries.uc.edu/information/contact/feedback.html.
More information about Summon is available online at http://www.libraries.uc.edu/help/th/summonfaq.html.
Summon will replace the previous federated search tool, OneSearch, which will be deleted from the Libraries website on May 1.
