February 29, 2008 – Cincinnati's Music Hall, Krohn Conservatory, and the Roebling Suspension Bridge, along with the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Trafalgar Square in London, and a traditional Somali House are just some of the images available online via a new collection available through University Libraries Digital Projects Web site.

The Architecture and Urban Planning Collection, produced by the Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) Library, contains over 2,500 images from China, Africa, Europe, and the United States, particularly in Cincinnati. The images in the collection were provided by University of Cincinnati students, faculty, and staff, professional and amateur photographers, and the Cincinnati Preservation Association. Many of the images represent urban planning research projects of DAAP faculty and students.

The images in the Architecture and Urban Planning Collection are available to the general public. Visitors to the collection can view thumbnails and large versions of the images, as well as rotate, zoom in and out, magnify particular areas, and print the images.

The Architecture and Urban Planning Collection joins other University Libraries Digital Projects available online, including:

  • The News Record: issues of the University of Cincinnati's independent student newspaper from September 1960 through July 1970.
  • George Catlin: The Printed Works: over 600 images of lithographic, chromolithographic and engraved plates from Catlin's principal printed works. George Catlin (1792-1872) traveled the North American continent from 1830-1838 to chronicle the people, customs and traditions of Native American tribes.
  • Lewis & Clark: A Journey: celebrates the bicentennial of the expedition by providing resources for education and research from the collections of the University Libraries and beyond.
