UC LIBRARIES OFFERS UC FREE ONLINE ACCESS TO THE CHRONICLE

June 2, 2004 - The University of Cincinnati Libraries have jointly subscribed to a new service offered by The Chronicle of Higher Education that enables them to bring this vital source of higher-education information to the desktops of UC faculty, staff, and students.

This online access to The Chronicle is effective immediately and includes:

• the full text of the current issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education, fully searchable and available every Monday morning
• daily reports on developments in information technology as they relate to academe
• the “Magazine and Journal Reader,” a daily look at an article of interest to those in academe
• daily updates on grant opportunities
• special pages for readers interested in community colleges, teaching, and international news
• statistical data about everything from faculty salaries to campus crime
• “Issues in Depth,” a collection of articles, documents, and data on some of the most important issues in higher education
• a chronological list of articles by date from 1995, as well as a searchable archive of issues back to 1989
• “Chronicle Careers,” a listing of jobs in academe.

To access The Chronicle online, simply visit <www.chronicle.com> from any UC on-campus connection or through UC remote access. Online access is also available via a link from the catalog record for The Chronicle of Higher Education in the Library Catalog. No authorization or password is required to view The Chronicle. The Chronicle of Higher Education is published every Monday and read by over 450,000 college and university administrators and faculty, making it the academic world’s #1 source of information and news. “My library colleagues and I have been eager to provide this excellent and timely higher-education resource to the UC community,” said Victoria A.
